Background:

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21st September, and the idea is to strengthen the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. The theme of this year’s commemoration is “Partnerships for Peace – Dignity for All” which aims to highlight the importance of all segments of society to work together to strive for peace.

This year at FHPU Enterprise in collaboration with Team Rwanda UK, our objective is to highlight the current suffering of millions of refugees from Africa and the Middle East who are scattered around the world and in need of our help. We believe that by coming together as communities to play the beautiful game of football, we will have the opportunity to raise awareness of the ongoing refugee crisis which has greatly affected people of all ages including children from Afghanistan, Burundi, Syria, and many other countries. Also, we intend to use this event to raise funds for refugees in need of food, medical care, and shelter.

Please join us on the 26th September 2015 from 10 am to take part in an exciting mini football tournament that will bring together 12 different communities from the UK.

Also, starting Saturday 12th to Friday 25th September we are coordinating a number of community Peace Games taking place from different parts of Rwanda, from Kigali to Rwamagana, Nyanza and Nyagatare. Let us all be part of something special that adds positively to the ideals of peace around the world.

Values:

Fair Play: To enjoy the fruits of success it is not enough to win. Triumph must absolutely be reached through fair means and through honest and just play.

Excellence: Sport engages us in a collective effort to pursue human excellence.

Solidarity: It is important to support each other and share feelings, aims and dreams. Mutual support brings mutual success on and off the field.

Respect: Respect is a key principle of football. Respect for the game, diversity, dignity, players’ health, rules, the referee, opponents and supporters and these values applies to life in general as much as they apply to the game.
